After gaining an International Higher Certificate in Wines & Spirits from WSET (London, UK), Lim went on to pursue Certified Specialist in Wines (CSW), Society of Wine Educators, and Certified Napa Valley Wine Educators from NVV (Napa Valley Vintners & CIA) certifications.
Timothy Goh – Director Of Wines,
Les Amis Group
Formerly Maître d’ of Les Amis Restaurant and Chef Sommelier of the Les Amis Group, Timothy Goh is now Director of Wines at the Les Amis Group. This year, Timothy will oversee the expansion of the Les Amis Group into Indonesia.

He graduated as a sommelier in 1998 after training at Hotel de Crillon, Paris, under the mentorship of Frederic Lebel, Chef Sommelier Les Ambassadeurs.
In Sept 2011, Lim was also awarded a Diploma in Spanish Wine Education (Wine Academy of Spain). He was also the first wine professional in Singapore and Asia to be certified by BIVB (Burgundy Wine Board) as a Burgundy Wine Educator, and Burgundy Wine Ambassador.
In the first quarter of 2012, Lim was awarded the professional title of French Wine Scholar (FWS) by the French Wine Society. He was also accredited by Wine Australia as an Australian Wine Specialist & Educator.
In 2014, Lim graduated from the Advanced Wine Assessment Course (AWAC) at the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), Adelaide University, and was also picked ‘Dux’ of his class.
Lim has judged at international wine competitions such as Cata d’Or (Chile and Argentina), Michelangelo International Wine Show and VERITAS in South Africa, the Royal Melbourne Wine Show, McLaren Vale Wine Show, Margaret River Wine Show, Adelaide Review Hot 100 in Australia, the 20th VinItaly International Wine Competition (Verona, Italy), and the Royal Hobart Wine Show 2014, Tasmania.
Lim has been chief judge for the BT Wine Challenge since its inception in 2013.
Lim received two World Gourmet Summit, Awards of Excellence, Regional Wine Article of the Year Awards in 2002 & 2003, and was a finalist in 2004. He is currently Contributing Wine Editor at Spirito di Vino Asia, a bi-monthly Wine & Spirit publication, and blogs about wine: www.drinkgoodwines.com
Lim was the first South-east Asian recipient of the inaugural Australia Landmark Wine Tutorial Scholarship held in Barossa Valley, Australia, in June 2009.
On May 9, 2011, he was conferred membership in L’Ordes des Coteaux de Champagne.

The Lim Hwee Peng School of Wine is the Program Provider and Administrator for the the Certified Specialist in Wine (CSW) programme. This international programme is into its 21st intake, with more than 200 graduates. In 2014, Lim starting offering the French Wine Scholar programme to trade professionals.
Some of his current key projects include Wine Facilitators SOPEXA and AUSTRADE; Lecturer & Program Developer for Singapore Airlines’ Sommelier Program (2004 - 2011); Wine Speaker on USA Wines for USDA, Thailand (since 2007); Wine Speaker for Wine Institute of California; Wine Consultant for Tung Lok Group (since 2008) and Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, and he also sources wines for the Creative Eateries Group.Close
Tim joined Les Amis Restaurant in 2006 as a sommelier, quickly rising to become Chef Sommelier for the Group in 2007 and then taking on another role as Maitre D’ for Les Amis in 2008. Before this, he had already achieved several awards, including the Bodega Torres Scholarship in the 2004 World Gourmet Summit and the SHATEC‐Austrade Education Award in 2002.
In his new capacity, Tim went on to garner many other new awards and accolades, including the World Gourmet Summit’s Sommelier of the Year award in the consecutive years of 2008 to 2010, and Restaurant Manager of the Year in 2009 and 2010.
Tim’s love affair with wine started back in 2003, when he joined Raffles Hotel as a Commis Sommelier as part of his Industrial Attachment at SHATEC.
A year later, when Tim had completed his Industrial Attachment, as testament to his diligence and commitment to his craft, he was promoted to Sommelier.
In 2010, he became the first Asian sommelier to be inducted into the Associazione delle Sommellerie Professionale Italiana (ASPI).
The Grand Jury Européen, which is an elite panel of connoisseurs, also welcomed him into their fold in the same year. This was followed by an induction into the prestigious L’ordre des Coteaux de Champagne in 2011, a highly acclaimed wine fraternity.
Since 2012, Tim has been invited to judge the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition.Close
Max subsequently traveled around the globe learning more about the wine profession; and those journeys included stints at Paul Bocuse’s, Florida, USA, before returning to France to be a sommelier at Restaurant Arpege.
In 2001, Max’s passion for his profession brought him to Singapore as a Sommelier in Les Amis.
The vineyard-trotter continued to hone his craft at IL Lido as part its opening team before opening Le Bistrot du Sommelier.
Apart from restaurant operation experience, Max has also amassed learning and experience in wine sales and advisory positions in the wine industry.
Max’s love for his profession has brought him to various wineries and vineyards in France, Italy, USA and Australia, and the travel bug is still deeply ingrained in him.
